Our media product would be distributed by one of the big six companies as in our opening sequence we used the 'Universal Studios' intro to show that they distribute our film and we created a company called 'Looper films' to use as our producer.
We chose
Universal as our film is targeted at a mass audience, however we feel it would most appeal to teenagers as it is a coming of age film. Hollywood production companies have the ability to
create big budget films as they can afford to keep making films even when they have a film that 'flops', which often gross hundreds of millions of
dollars. Much more than an Independent British Film company, such as
Warp or Working Title. Universal have the ability as they do this
frequently, creating highly successful films. They have had success
producing coming of age films, such as The Breakfast Club (1985) and Sixteen Candles (1984), and as our film falls into the Coming of Age genre, we felt they would be a suitable company, and probably the best option.
